Henry G. Trumpold, age 90, of Marengo, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Rose Haven Nursing Home. Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Pastor Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be at the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana, with Military Honors. Visitation: 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is caring for Henry and his family.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice, two sons Steve (Mary) Trumpold and Gary (Sherry) Trumpold, stepdaughter Kim (Pat) Leeney; four grandchildren James Trumpold, Jessica (Eric) Cizmadia, Jon (Brittney) Trumpold, Rob and Kayla Leeney; four great-grandchildren Colt, Cruz, Finley and Everly. Also surviving Henry are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Becky Trieschmann (Mike Driscoll), Debra Netser, Marilyn Trumpold, Gary (Kathy) Netser, and Jeff Netser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clifford, John, and Richard, a sister Dorothy Graesser, two brothers-in-law Don Netser and Fred Netser.
Henry George Trumpold was born November 5, 1933, in Middle Amana, the son of Rudolph and Maria Buerkin Trumpold. He attended the Amana Schools. Henry served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Henry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo, where he was very active. He was a skilled carpenter and worked for the Amana Builders. Henry built many homes in the area and made many projects out of his garage. Henry was a state champion at the Iowa State Fair in Horseshoes and enjoyed playing cards.
