Henry Junior ?Hank? Hochstetler, 86, of Bonita Springs, Florida, died Monday, April 11, 2016, in Bonita Springs.
Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Wayland. Burial will follow in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. The family asks donors to consider a memorial donation to the Iowa Mennonite School at 1421 54th Street S.W., Kalona, IA 52247; the YMCA of Bonita Springs at 27200 Kent Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135; or to the Love of Bonita Music Scholarship Program at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Hochstetler was born June 27, 1929, along with his twin, Henrietta June, to Henry F. and Amy Hochstetler at Kalona. He married Lois Leichty. Together the couple reared four children. She preceded him in death in 2002. He married Jo Ann Brent on Nov. 26, 2005.
He attended the Iowa Mennonite High School in Kalona and was a member of the first graduating class. He attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana. He spent his life as a businessman, manufacturing RVs in Elkhart, Indiana, and operating two KOA Campgrounds, one in Elkhart, Indiana, and another in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. He sold the companies and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, in 1979 and became a realtor. He owned Hochstetler Realty Inc. for a number of years, retiring in 2002. He was community volunteer-minded and served on various boards. He was past president of the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Bonita Springs Board of Realtors, past president of the Bonita Springs Utility Company, past president of Bonita Springs Main Street, and past president of the Lee County RV Campground Owners Association. He served on the YMCA Board of Directors, the imperial River Conservancy Board, and the Bonita Springs Incorporation Board. He was awarded the Bonita Springs Citizen of the Year in 1996, the National RV Dealer of the Year in 1975, the Realtor of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 1996, the Rotary Service Above Self Award in 1997, the YMCA Volunteer of the Year in 2000, and the ?Love of Bonita Award? in 2011. He loved his church, the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. He was ordained an elder and served three terms, was a member of the chancel choir for over 30 years, and chaired numerous committees including three building committees. He was an avid reader, loved music, and loved to travel.
Surviving are his wife Jo Ann; four children, Steven Hochstetler and wife Debra of Elkhart, Indiana, David Hochstetler and wife Beverly of Elkhart, Indiana, Cynthia Nichols and husband Ken of Elkhart, Indiana, and Patricia Lindsey of Bonita Springs, Florida; his second family, Douglas Brent and wife Mary, of Louisville, Kentucky, Suzanne Brent of Louisville, Kentucky, Sandra Roark of Hebron, Kentucky, and Dana Brent of Ashburn, Virginia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five second family grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Loran Hershberger.
