Herbert Wesley Miller, 77, of West Burlington died Wednesday, March 19, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Visitation will be held until 8 p.m. today, March 21, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A graveside funeral service and burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt Pleasant, with Paul Eisenmann and Jon Schmidgall officiating.
A memorial has been established for Burlington Apostolic Christian Church.
He was born Oct. 28, 1930 in Des Moines County, the son of Wesley and Alice Rogers Miller. On June 30, 1951, he married Esther Etsler in Alexandria, Ind.
Having attended New London High School, he worked for I.A.A.P., Iowa Plate and Glass Co., Mendenhall Oil Co., and Best Lock Co. He was the caretaker for Madison County Camp Association and worked for both New London and Burlington School Districts. He also farmed.
He attended Burlington Apostolic Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Charlene Henson and her husband Dan of Rossville, Ga. and Eileen Walker of Grand Junction, Colo.; four sons, Jeff Miller and his wife Kith of Fairfield, Maurice Miller and his wife Cathy of LaFayette, Georgia, Myron Miller and his wife Vicki of Galesburg, Ill. and Evan Miller and his wife Arlene of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.; four brothers, Dale Miller of Fairfield, Larry Miller of Rock Island, Ill., John Miller of New London and Jerry Miller of Connersville, Ind.; four sisters, Ruth Seager of Olathe, Kan., Anna Myers and Judy Gaylord, both of New London and Joan Hesseltine of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
His parents, daughter Jeanene, one brother in infancy and one grandson preceded him in death.
