Herbert W. Nicholls

      WELLMAN-Herbert W. Nicholls, 84, of Wellman, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at University Hospital in Iowa City, following complications of Alzheimers disease.

      Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman, with the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Burial will be in Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be at Powell Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Asbury United Methodist Church and the Wellman Senior Center.

      Mr. Nicholls was born on Dec. 2, 1919, in Macon County, Ill., near Decatur, Ill., to Earl O. And Myrtle Ellen (Leonard) Nicholls. On Feb. 16, 1941, he married Betty Ann Walther in St. Charles, Mo.
