Hildred Emry
Hildred Emry, 101, former resident of Richland, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
A private funeral will be held at a later time at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with Dick and Rose Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Lightning and Thunder Ministries.
Mrs. Emry was born Jan. 10, 1904, near Douds, the daughter of L. Earnest and Elsie Josephine Davidson Brown. She married Harold Bray, and they divorced. She later married Clyde Farley. He died in 1960. She later married Otto Emry. He died in 1979.
Mrs. Emry lived most of her life as a housewife in the Richland area. She worked for a short time at Lowenberg Bakery in Ottumwa.
Mrs. Emry was a member of Richland United Methodist Church and Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class.
She also was a member of Pricilla Club, a 50-year charter member of Chapter 369 Order of Eastern Star and active in other community activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Kessler of Burlington and Kathleen Horras and husband Robert of Richland; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Millard Brown of Ottumwa, Chuck Brown of Waterloo and Bill Brown of Wellman; and three sisters, Beatrice Jones of Ottumwa, Helen Thomas of Ottumwa and Opal Wilcox of Muscatine.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two stepsons, Richard Farley and Jay Emry; one grandson; one granddaughter; three sisters, Hazel McLaughlin, Mabel McLain and Leona Parks; and one brother, Stanley Brown.
