Hope Carmen Speed
Hope Carmen Speed, 84, of Washington, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, at the funeral home, with family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Speed was born on Aug. 5, 1919, in Oskaloosa, to Thomas and Minnie (Martin) Whitehead. She married Robert Speed on Oct. 5, 1940.
