Howard Moore

FAIRFIELD ? Howard William Moore Jr., 80, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Parkview Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Behner Funeral Home, with Kevin Schrader, Steve Schrader and Lester Schlatter offering words of comfort. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at West Chester Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. A memorial fund has been established. Cards of sympathy to the family and memorials may be sent to Shawn Moore, 1628 Jasmine Ave., Fairfield, IA 52556.

Mr. Moore was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Des Moines, the son of Howard William Moore Sr. and Mabel Francis Gee. He was married to Mildred Ann Wallace on Jan. 8, 1955, in West Chester.

He spent most of his life as a mechanic and enjoyed teaching so many people. He enjoyed playing softball, fishing and camping. He especially loved watching his grandsons play soccer.

Mr. Moore is survived by his four children, Melinda (Jerry) Mendenhall of Nashville, Tennesee, Vicki Ritz (Charles Blythe) of Mt. Pleasant, Julie (Dan) Hill of New London, and Shawn (Mandy) Moore of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; and one sister, Nancy Kessel.
