Ila Mae Bradshaw, 91, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Prestige Care.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Behner Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Behner Funeral Home,
with Pastor Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Peoples Church and mailed to Randy Major, P.O. Box 192, Batavia, IA 52533.
Ila Mae was born June 29, 1930, at home in Batavia, to William Earl and Flossie M. (Knox) Crawford. She married Joseph “Merl” Bradshaw on February 5, 1971, by Pastor Kermit Black at the Peoples Church in Batavia. They were married 45 years before Merl passed away on May 4, 2016.
Ila Mae graduated from Packwood High School in 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. Ila Mae worked at Universal Producing Company for 44 years as a supervisor and 5 years at Kramer’s Hallmark as a clerk.
She was a charter member of the Peoples Church and church secretary. Ila Mae was very active in her church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also helped with Children Church and attended a Bible study group.
Ila Mae was an excellent cook. To name a few dishes she would bring to family gatherings were macaroni and cheese, cherry salad, cucumbers and onions, fresh corn (from Merls Garden) and her mom’s sugar cookies.
Ila Mae will be missed by lots of nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
Ila Mae was preceded in death by her parents, William and Flossie Crawford; her husband, Merl Bradshaw; siblings, Morine Hogan, Mary Shanstrom, William Crawford, Charles Crawford, Virginia Conn, Wayne Crawford at infancy and B. Lucille Davis.
