Ilene Trier, 95, of Kalona, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Pleantview Home in Kalona. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 11 a.m.

at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. Masks are required for the visitation and funeral. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and Pleasantview Home.

Ilene (Kennard) Trier was born September 14, 1926, on the family farm near Kalona, the daughter of Clyde and Violet (Shepardson) Kennard. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1944. On November 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joe Trier at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keota. She lived most of her life in Washington, Iowa, and assisted her husband on the family farm. Ilene was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a former member of the Washington Community Y, and enjoyed the outdoors: nature, flowers and birds, dancing, golf and reading.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Shelley (John) Blakeney of Washington, Iowa; grandsons, Aaron Trier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kyle Blakeney of Fremont, California; sisters-in-law, Vernetta Crawford of Washington, Iowa, and LaVonne Kerkove of Ankeny, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ilene in death were her parents; her husband, Joe in, 1982; her son, Tom, in 1987; and her sister, Isabelle Krantz.
