Imogene Schlabaugh, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa Mennonite School, Pleasantview Home and Kalona First Responders.
Imogene was born January 11, 1930, in rural Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Gertrude (Miller) Gingerich. On June 30, 1950, Imogene was united in marriage to Emil Schlabaugh at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
Imogene is survived by her husband Emil and their five children: Steve (Dixie) Schlabaugh of Kalona; Mark (Doreen) Schlabaugh of Kalona; John (Jane) Schlabaugh of Kalona; Mary Ann (Tim) Gaffey of Iowa City and David (Julie) Schlabaugh of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale (Ruth) Gingerich of Carmel, Calif.
