Ina Marie Holmes

Ina Marie Holmes, 81, of Washington, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Washington Care Center.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, at Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Robert Bell officiating. Burial will be in Eicher Cemetery of Nobel. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Eicher Cemetery Association, the United Methodist Church, Washington Care Center, or Washington County Hospice.

Mrs. Holmes was born September 24, 1918, the daughter of Christian Earnest and Mary Schad Earnest.. She married Donald E. Holmes on February 22, 1940, in Cotter. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1937. A 25-year Sunday School teacher, she was a member of United Methodist Church Women, the Marion Hobby Club, the Wayland American Legion Auxiliary, and 4-H. She also worked with Washington YWCA Senior Citizens and the Washington Geneological Society.

Survivors include a son, Scott Holmes of Washington, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Chris, Jake, J.E., Homer, and Glen; three sisters, Florence Earnest, Frances Brown, and Iva Ferguson.
