Ira Stuart Miller Jr., age 71, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, May 31, 2019, in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa. Ira was born February 2, 1948, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Ira Stuart and Lois (Townsley) Miller. He attended school in Freemont, Iowa. Ira was married to Peggy Ann Davis. Peggy died in 1990. Ira was later united in marriage to Elizabeth "Libby" Johnson on June 26, 1993.
Ira has lived in Washington since 1970. He previously lived in Rose Hill and Delta, Iowa. Ira worked as a feed mill operator for Formax/ADM. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was Scoutmaster for Troop 243 and was Assistant Scoutmaster for many years. He enjoyed working outside, doing woodworking, building birdhouses and enjoyed canning.
He is survived by his wife, Libby Miller of Washington, Iowa; son, Ira S. Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Corey Miller and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Joseph Miller and wife Pam of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Ammie Miller of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Scholtus and husband Martin of Rose Hill, Iowa.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy; brother, John Nelson Miller; sister, Patricia Pace; and grandson, Wyatt Miller.
