Irene J. Park Glover, 89, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, died Monday, April 18, 2022, at Park Place Elder Living in Mount Pleasant. A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1202 Woodland Dr., Knoxville, Iowa. The Rev. Kevin Anstey, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville. Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant, is assisting Irene's family with the arrangements.
Irene Jane Timmermans was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Klondike, S.D. She was the daughter of John and Gertrude (ter Wee) Timmermans. She graduated as the valedictorian from the Inwood (Iowa) High School in 1950. She then graduated from the Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, S.D. Irene was united in marriage to Clifford Park, who preceded her in death. She then married Joe Glover in Texas. Mr. Glover preceded in death as well.
For many years, Irene was a registered nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville. Irene was gifted with many talents. Some of her favorites, though, included sewing and crocheting. Bridge was important to Irene, as she was a devoted Bridge player. She also enjoyed baking Dutch treats. For a number of years, Irene was an organist at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville.
Those thankful for sharing in Irene's life include her son and his wife, Steve and Linda Park of Mount Pleasant; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Albert) Schinstock and Lindsay (Wade) Cornick; three great-grandchildren, McKayla, Noah and Isaiah; a brother, Ron (Barbara Zimmer) Timmermans of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Deanna Jackson of Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Her parents, husbands and a brother, John Timmermans, preceded Irene in death.
