Irvin B. Roberts, 71, of Wagoner, Okla., formerly of Winfield, died Wednesday, March 5, at Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, Okla.
Visitation began at noon today, Monday, March 10, at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, at the chapel, with Jeff Thayer and Bruce VanStelton officiating. Burial will be at Winfield Scott Cemetery in Winfield, with military rites by the Henry County Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established.
He was born Aug. 16, 1936 in Louisa County, the son of Bryant and Bessie Bartholomew Roberts. On Feb. 1, 1959, he married Saundra Cullinan. They later divorced; on Jan. 25, 1993, he married Beverly Lyons in Winfield.
A graduate of Winfield High School, he attended Iowa Wesleyan College. He served in the U.S. Army and Naval Reserves during the Korean War. He was an ironworker, welder, police officer, correctional officer, farmer and real estate agent. He was a long-time member of the NRA.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherri Lamky and her husband Joey of Victoria, B.C., Canada, and Sarah Ferguson and her husband Troy of Hawkins, Texas; four sons, James Roberts and his wife Denise of Inola, Okla., Brandon Roberts and his wife Donna, and Shawn Roberts and his wife Marcy all of Gifford, Mo., and Mitchell Roberts of Wagoner, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
His parents, wife, daughter Rhonda Roberts, brother Richard Roberts, and sister Wanda Miller preceded her in death.
