ISABELLE L. HALL
Pella
Isabelle L. Hall, 24, of Pella, Iowa, passed away peacefully April 30, 2022, surrounded by her family and fiance at Mayo Clinic. Isabelle fought a courageous battle against complications related to her bone marrow transplant in 2017.
Isabelle was born Nov. 4, 1997, in Ames, Iowa, to Tim Hall and Christine Headington-Hall, joining older sister Lydia. She grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella Community High School in 2016. She found happiness at the University of Missouri in the masters program for dietetics and as a member of Gamma Phi sorority.
Isabelle enjoyed spending time with her big sister Lydia, whether that was hiking in Arizona or being together at home. They enjoyed painting, playing games, puzzles, watching shows and going on many walks by the lake.
Isabelle was engaged to the love of her life, Riley Stursma. Together they were planning a wedding for 2023. They shared many of the same passions such as exercising, road trips, lake houses and quiet evenings designing and working on their dream home.
She loved her two beautiful goldendoodles: close companion Doug and new puppy Cooper. Doug frequently joined her during hospitalizations at Mayo; the special bond that Doug and Isabelle shared could not be put into words.
Isabelle lived a very focused and healthy lifestyle. She enjoyed playing soccer, running, working out, baking, crocheting and traveling with family. She got to see Barcelona, London and Paris by the age of 18. Recently, Isabelle enjoyed her visits to Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park and getting engaged at the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Many days, trips and summers were spent with family and friends boating on Lake Red Rock, fly fishing in Bennett Springs, getting ice cream (twist dish with crunch) at Jersey Freeze or Whippy Dip and camping at the Iowa State Fair.
Isabelle's doctor believes, and we agree, that she was a born angel destined to teach others to define their quality of life with clarity and purpose – and uncompromisingly live by it.
She is survived by parents, Tim Hall and Christine Headington-Hall of Pella, Iowa; sister, Lydia Hall of Washington D.C./Pella, Iowa; fiance, Riley Stursma of Pella, Iowa; grandparents, Rex and Diane Hall of Birmingham, Iowa; grandparents, Dale and Sandy Headington of Decorah, Iowa; uncle Gordy and aunt Linda (Headington) Tangen of Decorah, Iowa; uncle, Tim and aunt Glenda (Hall) Simmons of Omaha, Neb.; and cousins, Bob and Gabby (Surovy) Root, Steve and Kimberly (Root) Hoffman, Kari Tangen, Madeline Simmons, Mollie Simmons, Jack Simmons, Gillian Simmons and Ava Simmons. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Brett Hall.
Memorials: Proceeds will go to the Mayo Clinic Foundation, Be The Match Foundation and memorials at the Iowa State Fair to carry on Isabelle's legacy. Checks: Isabelle Hall Memorial Fund or Venmo: @IsabelleHallMemorialFund. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
