IVA BELL MITCHELL

Iva Bell Mitchell, 100, a longtime resident of Packwood, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at her home in Moberly, Mo.
Iva Bell Hill Mitchell was born April 27, 1920, near Kinross, Iowa. She was born to Harry Henry Hill and Glennie Bales Hill. The Hill family moved to Ollie, Iowa, in 1923. She attended a one-room school house. She graduated from Ollie High School in 1937. She worked in Davenport, Iowa, for a short time after graduation.
In 1944, she married Willis Lee Mitchell of Packwood, Iowa. They made their home in the Packwood area. There were three children from this union: R. Wayne (Gwenith) Mitchell, Packwood, Gordon H. (Ruth Ann) Mitchell, Peoria, Ariz., and Wynona I. (Jerry) Adams, Salisbury, Mo. She had eight grandchildren: Amanda (Tommy) Clark, Gregory (Nicki) Mitchell, Ryan (Heather) Mitchell, Grant (Katie) Mitchell, Renae (Patrick) Sikora, Jared (Courtney) Ramsey, Curtis (Julie) Ramsey and Jessica Ramsey and 17 great-grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in the Packwood area. She was a member of Prairie View Methodist Church and a member of UMW since 1945. She was member of TTT since 1945. She volunteered her time helping at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, and the Cupboard in Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; a son, Wayne; and three brothers, Warren, Dean and Ray.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Prairie View Methodist Church, Ollie, Iowa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Prairie View Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Lamb officiating. Burial will follow the service at Packwood Cemetery.
