Ivan I. Bender

KALONA - Ivan I. Bender, 86, of Kalona, died Monday, April 7, 2008, in Pleasantview Home in Kalona after a lingering illness.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, in the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona with the Rev. Scott Swartzendruber, the Rev. Mick Murray, the Rev. David Yoder and the Rev. Marvin Eugene Bender officiating. An alternate service with CPS will be conducted in Montana. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Peterseim Funeral home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice or Pleasantview Home.

      Mr. Bender was born May 12, 1921 in Kalona, the son of Ira and Lena (Miller) Bender. He married Mattie Miller on Dec. 16, 1941.
