Ivan L. Alter

Ivan L. Alter, 66, of Trenton, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mt. Pleasant, with pastor Tom Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

Ivan was born March 25, 1941 in Moline, Ill., the son of Leslie and Ruth Anderson Alter. On June 10, 1962, he married Mary English in Trenton.

A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Ivan worked for Monson Roofing, and retired from Blue Bird after 40 years. He enjoyed hunting and farming.

Ivan is survived by his wife and his mother; his son, Linc Alter and his wife Angie; his brother, Don Alter of North Liberty; his sister, Deanne Alter of Mt. Pleasant; and two grandchildren.

His father and one sister, Joyce, preceded him in death.
