Ivan Rector, 95, passed away on Nov. 9, 2019, at

Great River Klein Center. He was born in Troy, Iowa, the son of Elmer C. Rector and Bessie M. Brooks Rector. On Aug. 5, 1946, he married F. Doreen Navin in Des Moines. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving from 1942 to 1946 with service in the South Pacific.

Mr. Rector was a longtime educator in the schools of Iowa for a period of 38 years. He held a B.A. degree from Parsons College, a M.A. degree from the University of Iowa and an education specialist degree from Drake University. He retired in 1985 as the elementary principal in Mediapolis. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Dan (Cindy) Rector of Waverly, Dean (Pat) Rector of Marion, Nancy (Jim) Davenport of Storm Lake and Joe (Kim) Rector of West Burlington; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only sister.

As per his request, there will be no visitation and no service. Cremation has been accorded to the care of Prugh Crematory.
