Jack Eugene Bradley, 90, a resident of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Monday, February 26, 2024 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, with his family at his side.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or Jefferson County Conservation for the trail system. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family.
Jack was born September 29, 1933 in Fairfield, the son of Frederick and Nevada (Shondel) Bradley. He was a 1951 graduate of Fairfield High School. Jack married Dolores “Dee” Godwin, December 27, 1952 at Antioch Church in Perlee, Iowa. He served in the Iowa National Guard.
Jack held many jobs throughout his life. He worked as a machinist at Dexter, retailer at Martha Brown, LTD., tax accountant, and the Iowa DOT.
Jack was a sports enthusiast, running track and playing basketball in high school. He was an avid and loyal St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, was an excellent cook, and helped coach Little League.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dee; daughters, Debbie (Chuck) Updike of Jerseyville, Illinois, and Sandy (Ralph) Stever of Libertyville; sons, Mark (Jeanna) Bradley of Washington, and Jason (Rachel) Bradley of North Liberty; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Edwards of Washington; sisters-in-law, Iona Bradley and Lea Bradley; and his beloved dog, Suki.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, Tom, Pete, Charles, Mike, John, and Jerry; sisters, Phyllis and Linda; son-in-law, Dean Brown; and mother and father-in-law, Warren and Berniece (Coop) Godwin.
