Jackie Lee “Jack” Hamilton, age 71, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jack was born March 25, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Thurman Ross and Veronica (Smith) Hamilton. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School and later graduated from William Penn College with a Degree in Business Administration. He was united in marriage to Diana Marsh on March 3, 1979.

Jack has lived in Washington, Iowa, for the past 45 years. He worked as a manager for Thorpe Financial in Washington, Iowa and later at I.T.T. in Washington and Iowa City. Jack worked as a Finance and Insurance Manager for area car dealerships and worked at Washington Wine and Spirits. He retired from Community First Credit Union.

He enjoyed fishing, visiting the Casino, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Sports fan.

Jack is survived by his wife, Diana Hamilton; son, Dion Dittrich; son, Nick Dittrich all of Washington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Pearl, Nick, Dustin and Amber Dittrich; and three great grandchildren: Lukas, Greyson and Cooper Dittrich. He is also survived by one sister, Katherine Ver Steeg of Oskaloosa, Iowa; as well as one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Michael Ver Steeg.
