James A. Hessing April 24, 1953 - January 30, 2004

James "Jim" Allen Hessing, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Oskaloosa, died on Jan. 30, 2004, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Jeff Crawford of Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, and the Rev. Bruce Thompson of Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his three children: Russell, Renee and Derek Hessing, at home in Oskaloosa; his father of Oskaloosa; three brothers, Larry and his wife Laura Hessing of Pella, Dale and his wife Deb Hessing and Glen and his wife Sheryl Hessing, all of Oskaloosa; and two sisters, Janice and her husband Kent Sewright of Urbandale, and Karen Hessing of Ankeny.

      He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.
