COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? James Alexander Carey, 25, of Letts, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Washington County.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. A general memorial has been established at the funeral home.
Mr. Carey was born July 11, 1990, in Fontana, California, the son of Ronald Jeffry and Maureen Gail (Grant) Carey. He married Hannah Carmichael on April 27, 2011, in Savannah, Georgia.
He graduated from Bryan County High School in Pembroke, Georgia, and attended college. He had worked at Tyson Foods in Columbus Junction as an Industrial Boiler and Refrigeration Specialist. He was also a Master Mechanic and had received many certifications through his job. He loved what he did; he also loved to write and hoped one day to write a novel. He enjoyed history, especially war history, going places, traveling and exploring new adventures. His first and foremost love and enjoyment was being with his children.
Surviving are his wife, Hannah, of Letts; two children, Brielle Alexia, and Jack Alexander, both at home in Letts; his mother and stepfather, Maureen and Michael VanHook of Guyton, Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Grant of Tucson, Arizona; his paternal grandmother, Jane Walker and husband Larry of York, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Jason Johnson of Savannah, Georgia, and Justin Johnson of Guyton, Georgia; one sister, Lindy Casper of Guyton, Georgia; four nieces and nephews; one uncle; one aunt; and one cousin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald; and his maternal grandfather, Larry Grant.
