James Allen Jones, 79, of Ainsworth, passed from this life on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 4 – 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for the Cotter Presbyterian Church.

James A. “Allen” Jones was born March 14, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the son of James Darold and Margaret Arlene (Arthur) Jones. He graduated from Ainsworth High School and was united in marriage to Edith Marlene Wade on August 25, 1978. He served in the Iowa National Guard. Allen hauled livestock and enjoyed going to the casino, racing cars in his younger years, watching NASCAR, and catching up on all the news while drinking Pepsi at Stewarts.

Survivors include two children: Cory Jones of Washington, Trudy Brown of Crawfordsville, daughter-in-law Jami Kauffman, seven grandchildren: Samiyyah, Aaliyah, Brooklin, Nadiyah, Vincent, Preston and Ellasyn and two sisters-in-law: Kristin Stone of Kalona, and Shirley Wade of Wayland.

Preceding Allen in death were his parents, his wife Marlene in 2020, a son-in-law Saleum Brown, sister and brother-in-law Rita and Barney Schultz, and two brothers-in law: Gary Wade and Donald Stone.
