James C. Custer

      James C. Custer, 85, of Washington, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at the Washington County Hospital following declining health for the past year.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home, Washington, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for Washington American Legion Post 29 and the Washington County Conservation Board for Marr Park.

      Mr. Custer was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Washington to Edward Frank and Mabel Belle (Woods) Custer. He married Joan Seeberger on April 3, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She preceded him in death in 1999.
