James Dea Hooker, 32, of Fairfield, died Saturday, May 27, 2023, at home.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. June 22, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home with Father Stephen Page officiating. Inurnment of his cremains will be in Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, there is an education fund set up for his son, James at Midwest One Bank. Cards and memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Behner Funeral Home, 203 South Main, Fairfield, IA 52556.

James was born May 10, 1991, in Brenham, Texas. He was an active Cub and Boy Scout in Texas before moving to Fairfield with his parents in 2004. His favorite times were spent with his wife, son and family. James was an avid blacksmith and spent many hours forging kitchen tools and implements.

He is survived by his wife, Sydney Schwab; son, James Anthony; mother, Barbara (Bob) Kistler of Fairfield; father, C.D. Hooker of Graham, TX; grandmother, Rose Kennedy of Fairfield; step-sisters, Kailey (Justin) Pellichino of Prairieville, LA, and Kerri Kistler of Newton, KS; aunts and uncles, Kevin (Sheila) Kennedy of Ingleside, IL, Tom (Maureen) Kennedy of Quincy, IL, Ted (Barbara) Kennedy of Phoenix, AZ, Martha Kennedy (Joe Hobaica) of Brooklyn, NY, and Renoka McCracken of Graham, TX; and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim Kennedy of Fairfield; and JD and Lois Hooker of Breckenridge, TX.
