James "Jim" Drayfahl, age 79, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Sunday, June 9th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Jim was born March 30, 1940, in Mora, Minnesota, the son of William and Irene (Carroll) Drayfahl. He attended school in Washington, Iowa. Jim was united in marriage to Lois Dickerson on August 10, 1958, in Washington, Iowa.
Jim lived most of his life in the Ainsworth Community. He was the owner and operator of Drayfahl Salvage and drove truck for 59 years. He served in the Army Reserve and National Guard for 13 years. Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, going to dances with his wife, watching John Wayne movies and going on motorcycle rides.
He is survived by his daughter, Deb Roth and husband Rudy of Wayland, Iowa; son, Jimmy Drayfahl of Corpus Christi, Texas; son Ron Drayfahl of Ainsworth, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Carrol Nardy of Washington, Iowa; brother, Wes Drayfahl of West Liberty, Iowa; sister, Cheri McFarland and husband Dan of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, Mike Drayfahl and wife Celia of Wapello, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jan Drayfahl of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois in 2017; one great-grandchild; brother, Larry Drayfahl; and brother-in-law, Robert Nardy.
