James E. Bucklin December 30, 1929 - May 10, 2005

James E. Bucklin, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at his home.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Bill Porter, pastor of West Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery in Martelle. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the chapel, and there will be no family visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.

      Survivors include two sons, David and his wife Julie Bucklin of Solon, and Jack and his wife Julie Bucklin of Jefferson; two daughters, Ann Bucklin of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mary Bucklin of Cincinnati, Ohio; four step-daughters, Lynda and her husband David Toomer of Parnell, Paula Stroud and Krista Jones, both of Cedar Rapids, and Valee Hatcher of Gardnerville, Nev.; two brothers, Jerry and his wife Wilma Bucklin of Roland, and Bob and his wife Carolyn Bucklin of Des Moines; two sisters, Pearl Betts of Jefferson, and Pauline Lee of Guthrie Center; his first wife of Jefferson; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to his wife Margaret, he was preceded in death by his parents.
