James E. Short

      James "Jim" Edwin Short, 69, of Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at his home.

      The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am, Thursday Jan. 12 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf as celebrant. The Veterans Honor Guard of VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League and the AMVETS Post 29 will conduct military rites. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Wapello Athletic Association.

      Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Lunning Chapel, with the rosary recited at 3 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 6 p.m., after which the family will be present to 8 p.m.

      Born Aug. 22, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Vern Edwin and Dolores Matilda Siefken
