James Ernest Swartzendruber

December 26, 1942 - December 22, 2017

James Ernest Swartzendruber was born December 26, 1942, in rural Wellman, Iowa, and passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the McCreedy Home in Washington. He was a long-time resident of the McCreedy Home. Prior to that he was a resident of Washington County Home and Orchard Hill ResCare in Washington.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary, and a nephew Jeff Swartzendruber. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Arlis (Nancy) Swartzendruber of Mesquite, Nev., Teresa (Bill) Bainter of Goshen, Ind., Dellis (Judy) Swartzendruber of Anamosa, Iowa, Violet Draga of Richmond, Ky., and six nephews: Cloy, Kevin, Kevin, Darren, Sean and Lance.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Pastor Don Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:30-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for James and his family.
