James F. McKean
James F. McKean, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Henry County Health Center.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Open visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be no family visitation. Memorials may be made to the Green Mound Church of God.
Mr. McKean was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Salem, Ore., the son of Frank and Alice Fry McKean. He married Nina Ruby in January of 1956; she preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 1975. He then married Harriet Elgin in Jonesboro, Ark., in June, 1976, who preceded him in death on March 1, 1977. He then married Irma Frueh Quayle in June 1977 at Trenton.
He attended the Green Mound Church of God, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Mt. Pleasant VFW Post #2561 and Disabled American Veterans. He worked for the Fairfield Lumber Company and UBC Lumber in Mt. Pleasant, from which he retired. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, a stepson, Herb and Jackie Quayle of Mt. Pleasant; two step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two nieces. In addition to his first two wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
