James "Jim" Gage, 97, of Letts, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Letts Cemetery with Military Rites. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or Colonial Manor of Columbus Junction in Jim's name. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

James Gage was born on October 9, 1921 in Letts, Iowa, the son of Louder and Emma (Masonholder) Gage. He joined the United States Navy following Pearl Harbor and served aboard the USS Portland Heavy Cruiser throughout World War II. On August 26, 1945, Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy Wanda Ogier in Rock Island, Illinois. Jim had worked as a carpenter until the mid 50's and worked for Stanley Consultants for 28 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and NRA, enjoyed building projects, hunting and fishing.

Jim will be missed by his sons, Larry (Karen) Gage and Gary (Denise) Gage, both of Letts; granddaughters, Kimberly (Michael) Hewitt and Bakken and her husband, Jamie.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wanda in 2001.
