James Herman Leichty

      James Herman Leichty, 70, of rural Wayland, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Washington Care Center, following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 8, at Bethel Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Herb Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, at the church, with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Bethel Mennonite Church or Hospice of Washington County. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is in charge of arrangements.

      Mr. Leichty was born on May 4, 1935, in Wayland, to Herman and Florence (Christner) Leichty. He married Dorothy Schrock on June 4, 1955, in Kalona.
