JAMES F. HESSELTINE
Brighton
James F. Hesseltine, 71, of Brighton, died at his home Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, 2019. He was born July 14, 1948, in Washington, to Alvin Lee and Cecil Pearl DeWolf Hesseltine. He grew up in the Brighton area and graduated from Brighton High School in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Enterprise during the Vietmam War. Jim married Dawn Todd Riness in West Chester on June 9, 1984. He was a member of the Brighton Community Church and Fairfield VFW. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and hunt mushrooms. Jim worked on the railroad for a few years, construction and for Crane Valve Group in Washington until he retired.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dawn of Brighton; daughters, Gina Goodwin (Eric Hernandez) of Solon and Felicia Armstrong (Larry) of Tama; a son, Daniel Riness of Brighton; nine grandchildren, Jordan, River, Quinn, Lane and Cache Goodwin, David Riness, Clayton Humphries and Jenny and Jessy Armstrong; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Turner (Bill) of Wayland and Marilyn Rich (Ron) of Springdale, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Hesseltine; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Brighton Community Church with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial with military honors in Hillcrest Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, immediately preceding the service, at the church.
Memorials for Hospice Compassus may be left at the church or mailed to 201 S. Farmer St., Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
