James Hotle
James Douglas Hotle, 73, of Washington, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Washington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow at Fern Cliff Cemetery in rural Wayland. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Hotle was born Dec. 12, 1942, in Washington, the son of Dallas and Hazel (Snakenberg) Hotle. He married Emily Stoops on June 17, 2000, at Sunset Park in Washington.
He graduated from Washington High School and worked at several jobs, including Tyson?s Food in Berryville, Arkansas, and for the Milwaukee Railroad in Washington. He was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting coins, reading historical books, anything related to the railroad, and listening to country music. He took several trips to the Grand Ole Opry and especially liked Johnny Cash?s and Elvis Presley?s music.
Surviving are his wife, Emily, of Washington; one sister, Barb Bernand and husband Bill of Missouri; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Marjorie.
