James 'Jim' L. Barnes

      James "Jim" L. Barnes, 77, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at Washington Care Center.

      A graveside service, with military honors, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Brighton, with the Rev. Sally Graves and the Rev. Linda Foor officiating.

      Open visitation is from 1-4 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. The family will not be present.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington Care Center activity department, Brighton United Church or Alzheimer's research.

      Mr. Barnes was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Keith and Viola Stout Barnes. He married Donna Smith Aug. 14, 1955, at First Christian Church in Fairfield.
