Jim was born August 8, 1950, in Washington, Iowa to Edwin and Phyllis Peiffer. He graduated from Washington High School and after working hard at several jobs, he joined his dad to work on the farm in West Chester. He enjoyed working on the farm, and enjoying a lot of laughs with his dad. He then worked at IBP (now Tyson Foods) followed by the University of Iowa.
Jim had a number of fast cars and was a true reflection of the 50’s and 60’s, enjoying the cars and music from these years. He had many friends who gave him the nickname of Texas Ranger, shortened to TR. His most recent weekend cruiser was a 2007 Mustang GT.
Jim enjoyed a seven-year marriage to Bonnie, and they were parents to Chad, Cory, and Colin. The family enjoyed the years on the “north farm” in West Chester and Chad owns a few of those acres today. Jim worked hard his entire life and always had a smile on his face, unless he was chasing livestock on the farm, or was tiring in the hay mow stacking bales of hay. He enjoyed relocating to Washington, Iowa after retiring from the University of Iowa, so he could be close to Chad’s family. He enjoyed his home, working in the yard, and polishing his Mustang, “Jim’s GT”. Jim enjoyed his pets including Casey, Casey Bear, and Simon.
Jim is survived by his sons Chad (Betsy) in West Chester, Cory (Brittany) in Wichita, KS, and Colin in Prescott, AZ. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids in West Chester, Abby and Tanner. He is also survived by his sister, brothers and sister-in-law including Kathy (Dennis) of Olathe, KS, John of Orlando, FL, Rich (Chris) of West Chester, IA, mark (Karla) of West Des Moines, IA, and Joyce (Steven) of Washington. Jim had a loving niece and nephews along with their families and many friends and work colleagues that soon became friends. Perry Pfeiffer was a special UI supervisor and good friend.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Phyllis, sister Vicki, and brother Bob.
