James R. Grimes

James R. Grimes, 85, of Brighton, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Pearl Valley Rehab of Washington.

He was born August 19, 1932, in Sigourney to Cloyd and Erma Vogel Grimes. He grew up in Sigourney and graduated from Sigourney High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. James married Nannette Y. Wilson June 13, 1969, in Montrose, Colo. He worked as a meat cutter at the Brighton Locker, and at Crane Valve in Washington. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. James is survived by his wife, Nan; one daughter, Aimee Reed (Ken) of Washington; three sons: Bryan Grimes, New Orleans, La., Kelly Grimes (Erma), Thermal, Calif. and Kris Grimes, Virginia; three grandchildren; two sisters: Carol Sheetz, Montrose, Colo. and Donna Fenske, Homer, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Katheryn Berg.

A dinner gathering for family and friends will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday April 18, 2018, at the First Church of God in Brighton. Memorial gifts may mailed to the family at 408 S. Mechanic Street, Brighton, IA 52540. A private family burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is assisting the family
