James Edwin Russell, 77,
of Burlington, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2021,
at Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born Feb. 25, 1944, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, he was the son of Webb and Laura Lamb Russell. On Oct. 7, 1972, he married Janice Sue Martin in Des Moines. He was a U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard Veteran, Aug. 16, 1965 until May 25, 1971 in the 224th Battalion.
James was the owner of Russell Heating & Air in Burlington.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and Memory Cruiser Car Club. James enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, helping others with projects, and was a proud supporter of the Republican Party.
Survivors include wife, Janice Sue Russell of Burlington; two daughters, Christine (Lee) Kent of Burlington and Kelly (Eric) Schweet of Algonquin, Ill.; one son, Shane Milligan of West Burlington; one daughter-in-law, Melissa Milligan of West Burlington; and seven grandchildren, Hannah (Brandon) Ita, Allison Milligan, Katlyn Kent, Lauryn Kent, Taylor Schweet, Logan Schweet and Ryan Schweet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beverly Matthews; and four brothers, Roger, Wally, Walter and Robert Russell.
The funeral service for Mr. Russell will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Harmony Bible Church, Burlington Campus, with Pastor Dan Dingus officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in at Harmony Bible Church, Burlington Campus immediately following the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mount Pleasant at 1 p.m. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established to Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
