BRIGHTON ? Janet Maebelle Crosby, 76, of Pleasant Plain, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Parkview Home in Wayland.

She requested cremation, and a family memorial service will be held at a later time when her cremains will be buried next to her husband in the Friends Cemetery in Pleasant Plain. Memorials to Hospice of Washington County or Parkview Home in Wayland may be mailed to the family: Jim Hanshaw, 918 East Washington Street, Washington, IA 52353. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is assisting the family.

Mrs. Crosby was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Albert LeRoy and Frances Inez (Pickering) Hanshaw. She married Chester Crosby on July 13, 1963, in Brighton.

She graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1959. She was a homemaker, care giver, and ?Grandmother? to many nieces and nephews.

Surviving are two brothers, Jim Hanshaw and wife Marianne of Washington, and Eugene Hanshaw and wife Tierney of Pleasant Plain; and one sister, Carma Pringle and husband Ken of Brighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Jan. 23, 2008; two brothers, Larry, and Jerry Hanshaw; one nephew; and one infant niece.
