Janet Elizabeth Peiffer, the daughter of Henry and Betty Webb Thompson, was born March 6, 1959, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated from Grinnell High School and attended college classes at Marshalltown Community College. Janet worked at Montezuma Manufacturing for a few years, owned Emily's Restaurant in Sigourney and worked at Fan Steel Factory in Washington, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Alvin Peiffer on Dec. 5, 1997, in Keswick, Iowa. She worked for Kalona Plastics before purchasing Blooming Endeavors in Montezuma in 2004 with her sister, Karen.
Janet was an artist and a perfectionist. She took pride in all of her work and loved her community. She met and enjoyed her many loyal customers and became their lifelong friends. Janet was known for her amazing creations. She prided herself in doing the flowers for the Veteran's Memorial in Montezuma and the church poinsettias at Christmas. Her flower shop was her life's passion. She was a member of Lion's Club and her hobbies included latch hook rugs and baking delicious pies when she owned the restaurant. Her family was a big part of her life as well as her many friends.
Her memory will be honored by her husband, Alvin Peiffer of Washington; her son, Aaron Floden of Montezuma; her daughter, Casey Peiffer of Washington; her siblings, Karen Thompson of Grinnell, Ken (Karen) Thompson of Grinnell, Gary (Carla) Thompson of Florida, Peggy (Gary) Morse of Montezuma, Jay Thompson of Grinnell and Glenn (Melanie) Thompson of Gilman; and nieces, nephews and many other friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brandon Floden in 2018; and her sister, Sherry Thompson.
