Janice Ellen Crawford, 93 of Washington, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the Washington County Hospital.

A private family graveside will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be later in spring of 2025. The Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be designated for Hospice of Washington County or Paws and More.

Janice was born July 14, 1931, in Rockwell City, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd Alvin and Jeanette Grace (Medd) Grant. She graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1949 and received her BA from the University of Iowa in 1953. She was united in marriage to Ronald Leroy Crawford, July 31, 1954, in Rockwell City, Iowa.

Janice raised her family and had a variety of part-time jobs. Her family operated the Roller Rink in Washington for several years. Janice was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, involved in the bell choir, women’s circle and funeral luncheons. She enjoyed watching “Wheel of Fortune”, gardening, flowers and cats.

Survivors include five children: Kevin (Lesa) Crawford of Ankeny, Lori Crawford of Washington, Galen (Jodi) Crawford of Ames, Jill (Kenneth) Steinsultz of Newburgh, IN, and Ken (Dawn) Crawford of Riverside; nine grandchildren: Matt (Megan), Brian (Kaile), Amy, Amanda (Ryan Sutton), Mathew, Madeline Steinsultz, Drew Steinsultz, Alec (Kim), and Cole (Lauren); ten great-grandchildren: Eliana, Cohen, Camille, Emmie, Cooper, Carter, Adalyn, Ali, Crew and Cooper.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, December 24, 2021, brothers Dick and Dean and infant sister Mavis Irene.
