Jay Alan Jeffrey, 59, of Fairfield, IA passed away in the afternoon on Friday, March 14th, 2025 at the Mayo Clinic Hospice in Rochester, MN surrounded by his loved ones. He was born at Jefferson County Health Center on July 13th, 1965, in Fairfield, IA to Joyce Kay Jeffrey and Edwin Harvey Jeffrey. He resided in Batavia, IA in the last years of his life. He was born and raised in Fairfield where he completed his high school education. He enlisted in the United States Army following his high school graduation where he was a tanker. Following his honorable discharge from the United States army he began trade school where he became a journeyman lineman, which was his career for the rest of his life prior to retiring at 55.
In his early life, he had a good childhood where he started many of his hobbies which included riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He enjoyed these things and bonded with his father and brother, James Edwin Jeffrey, over these hobbies that stuck with him throughout his life.
He was married in 1995 which led to the birth of his first-born daughter Katelund Elizabeth Jeffrey and then his youngest daughter Kyleigh Grace Jeffrey. He raised his daughters as a single father while working full time. He loved them and they were the lights of his life. He had one grandchild who he dearly loved, Haven Moon Kelley.
He was survived in death by his brother James Jeffrey, his daughters Katelund and Kyleigh Jeffrey. His niece Jennifer Jeffrey and her children Izayah Deihl and Mackenzie Vorhies, and his nephew James Jeffrey; and many friends.
His predeceased family was his father Edwin Jeffrey and his mother Joyce Jeffrey.
The visitation will be Friday, March 21st at 2:00 pm at Cranston Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. His funeral service will be held the following day Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00 am at the Cranston Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. Burial will take place in Batavia, IA at the Batavia Cemetery following the funeral service
Following the burial, we encourage family and friends to relocate to the VFW in Fairfield where we will being having a wake. Food will be available. We would like it for everyone to be dressed in Harley Davidson attire as our father had a huge passion and love for motorcycles and the community it brought to him.
Jay Jeffrey was a loving father, brother and uncle. He was a great friend to many. Everyone who met Jay never had a bad thing to say about him. He brought happiness to many people’s lives, and he will be dearly missed.
