Jay Allen Boyd, 65, of New London, died Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington. Jay was born July 8, 1959 in Mount Pleasant to Noble Lewis and Janet Mae Brown Boyd. He graduated from New London High School in 1977 and married Melanie A. Wick in New London on June 9, 1979, and they later divorced.

Jay was a union pipe fitter with the Local 125 for many years. He was a volunteer on the New London Fire Department, loved being with family and friends, was very proud of his grandsons, and enjoyed the heck out of his dog Huey.

He is survived by his son, Jason Boyd of Clive, daughter Jessica (Jeremy) Dean of Mediapolis, 3 grandsons, one niece, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. His parents and one sister, Teresa Harris, preceded him in death.

According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and his family will receive friends from 4 to 6 on Friday, Sept. 27, at Elliott Chapel, New London with a "Celebration of Jay's Life" being held immediately after at Woobies in New London.
