Ruth Jean Cox, 72, of Fairfield, died at 8:34 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the home of her sister-in-law, Carol Hartman.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen Page officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. The family will receive friends following the prayer service until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Fairfield Christmas Lights fund and St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Fairfield, the daughter of Harold P. and Anna I. Nott Hartman. A lifetime resident of Fairfield, she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. She worked as an office manager for French-Reneker Associates for 24 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, bowled for many years on the Fairfield bowling leagues, enjoyed antiques and was an avid NBA fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Wesely and Karen and her husband Tim Buchan, all of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Steven and his wife Sarah Schmidt Cox of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Gwen Petersen of Fairfield; her caregiver and sister-in-law Carol Hartman of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Hartman, and her sister Eloise Cebuhar.
