Jean M. Rath

RIVERSIDE ? Jean Marie Rath, 84, of Coralville, formerly of Riverside, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Burial will be in the Riverside Public Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rath was born Feb. 8, 1932, in Riverside, the daughter of Ike and Opal (McClellan) Kern. She married Dale Eugene Rath on June 5, 1954, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside.

She was a graduate of Riverside High School. She worked for the VA Hospital in Iowa City and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside, Riverside VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, her dogs, and attending her grandchildren?s sporting events.

Surviving are four children, Rick Rath and wife Sue of Keosauqua, Lynette Simpson and husband William of Iowa City, Tamie Donnelly of Iowa City, and Allen Rath of Kalona; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; two brothers, Kenneth, and Gail; and one sister, Joan Allen.
