Jeffery Lynn Crossett, age 71, of Keota, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home.

Jeff was born May 14, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Doris (Lowe) Crossett. He enlisted in the Army in 1971 as a cook with the 1/36th Field Artillery, 7th Army Corp in Augsburg, Germany. While stationed there, Jeff met and later married Christa Ulber. They had a daughter Gloria during their 25 years of marriage. Jeff left the service in 1975 to return to civilian life as a fabricator at RayMan in Keota where he worked for three years. Afterwards, he tried his hand in the restaurant business for a few years where he ran the Golden Buckle restaurant. Following a short stint in insurance sales, he underwent training in auto exhaust repair and opened a shop in Hannibal, Missouri with his brother, Ray. Several years later, he started an exhaust shop of his own in Washington. He was owner-operator of Exhaust Specialist for nearly 30 years before his retirement. Jeff enjoyed fishing, classic movies, and classic cars.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Gloria Crossett; son: Jason Lay; two grandchildren: Xavier and Lillian; siblings: Judy Baumert, Helen Jones, Mike Crossett, Ray Crossett and Danny Crossett and ex-wife: Christa Crossett. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert, Kevin and Mark Crossett and sister: Rebecca Crossett.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. Funeral service will be held directly afterwards at 11:00 a.m, at the same location. Pastor Doug Tinnes will be officiating. His ashes will be buried at the Wellman Cemetery at a later date.
