Jeffrey Floyd Brown was born on June 4, 1957, in Bloomfield, Iowa, to the parents of Opal and Floyd Brown. He attended Keota High School. On Sept. 6, 1975, he was united in marriage to Denni Rae Hammes at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. They lived in Keokuk County until later moving to Jefferson County in 2016. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keota, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with his four daughters and his 15 grandchildren. Jeff passed away suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at his home in Fairfield, Iowa, at the age of 62.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Denni Rae; four daughters, Brandy and Michael Wood of North Liberty, Bambi and Bo Hackert of Richland, Brooke and Tommy Spurgeon of Ottumwa and Beth and Billy Weinhold of Blakesburg; 15 grandchildren, Breanna, Hunter, Gunner, Chelsea, Gage, Lane, Kelsey, Paige, Tucker, Gatlin, Holdyn, Paxton, Payton, Thomas and Garrett; brother, Ronnie and Peggie Brown of Memphis, Mo.; sisters, Rose Coffman of South English, Judy Brown and Chinaman of Marshall, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; and Charlotte Brown of Keota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Tammy Mast; nephew, Kurt Brown; mother and father-in-law, Herb and Maxine Hammes; brother-in-law, Randy Hammes; and beloved dog, Sarge.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a rosary and Celebration of Life service at 6 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter.
