Jeneva L. Johnson, 83, of Mt. Union died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the Mt. Union United Methodist Church in Mt. Union with the Rev. Pat Halverson and the Rev. Bob Hary officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. A general memorial has been established in her name.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 13, 1916, at Mt. Union, the daughter of William and Leona Hartley Flayharty. She married Virgil Johnson on Aug. 21, 1937, at Kahoka, Mo. She was a graduate of the Mt. Union High School, an employee of the Cargill Seed Company, the Mt. Union Telephone Company, the I.A.A.P., and the Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute. She was a former member of the Mt. Union O.E.S. Chapter and a former member of the Mt. Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of Mt. Union; a daughter, Linda Russell of Mt. Union; three sons, Richard "Butch" Johnson of Mt. Union, Ronald Johnson of La Harpe, Ill., and Danny Johnson of Mt. Union; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
