Jerry Bruce Robinson
Jerry Bruce Robinson
Richland
Jerry Bruce Robinson passed away on February 10, 2025 in Englewood, Colorado, after a long illness.
Jerry resided in the Denver area since 1960. He was born October 22, 1937 to Bruce and Veronica Robinson (both deceased) and raised in Richland, Iowa, a small community where everyone was close. He had one sister MaryAnn who has been deceased for over 20 years. He has two children: Bruce Robinson (Denver area) and Betsy Robinson (Scottsdale, Arizona).
Because of health problems caused by the Iowa humidity, Jerry attended a boarding school (Canon City Abbey School) for his high school years. He fondly talked about his many experiences and happy times as Class president and being part of the sports programs. He had many good friendships while residing there that lasted throughout his life. He graduated from Abbey High School and then went to the University of Denver, where he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Jerry was a successful businessman, involved in various real estate developments and a motel operation. His activities were primarily in the mountains, mostly in the Crested Butte area where he profited from real estate investments. He operated the Canon Inn Hotel and adjacent apartments in Canon City for many years.
He loved to travel and visited numerous foreign places. He was a lifelong Catholic whose faith was central to his decision making and actions. His numerous pilgrimages abroad to well-known shrines, the Vatican, his meetings with Catholic leaders, including the Pope, were inspiring to all who knew him.
Jerry was very charitable, avidly supporting the Colorado University football program and various organizations. His generosity was evidenced by his continual support of the Catholic church and religious orders, chief among them the Carmelite Sisters of Littleton, Colorado, the Little Sisters of the Poor, and numerous other Catholic organizations. One of his recent accomplishments is the donation of the Jerry B. Robinson Child Care Center, which was just completed in December 2024 in Richland, Iowa.
Visitation and funeral mass were held in Denver, Colorado and overseen by Horan McConaty Mortuary.
Jerry’s body has been transported to Iowa for burial next to his mother, father and sister in Ottumwa, IA. Graveside services and interment were at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa with Fr. Joseph Sia presiding. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, 3310 South Sherman Street in Englewood, CO 80113.
